CALGARY — For the past two summers, Theatre Calgary and Mount Royal University have worked together to present Shakespeare in the Park. After being forced to relocate in 2013 due to the flooding in Calgary, the two partners are returning stronger than ever with new determination and a new name: Shakespeare by the Bow.

Shakespeare by the Bow will be staging A Comedy of Errors in one of Calgary’s most beautiful parks, Prince’s Island. Described as one of Shakespeare’s silliest plays, A Comedy of Errors follows two twins, separated at birth, who find themselves in the same city. Every performance is pay-what-you-will, with no ticket required.

Though the name has changed, the identity and spirit of the program remain the same. Shakespeare by the Bow places the education and training of emerging artists front and centre. Theatre Calgary will continue its practice of using its professional expertise to mentor, celebrate and encourage the next generation of theatre artists.

A Comedy of Errors runs until August 9th at Prince’s Island Park.
