CALGARY — The Nix Dicksons’ Drunkard Santa Christmas reunion show was a party, party, party. Balloons, booze and party tunes added to the joyous affair as close friends and old fans sang and danced in good cheer at Dickens Pub on the last weekend before Christmas.
The Nix Dicksons were a popular Calgary band that broke up in 2010. This was their first show as a reunited band in two years.
The night was kicked off with singer-songwriter Rick Reid’s sombre and personal radio rock. Next, was an explosive set from Go For the Eyes, a small four-piece powerhouse of a band, blasting some rock and roll.
The Nix Dicksons slowly and quietly climbed onstage, making wisecracks about what it was like in the year 2010. “When we were a band in 2010, Jian Ghomeshi was a respectable human being,” said the lead singer with a laugh.
With high energy and high spirits, the Nix Dicksons played their fun indie-pop to an audience of best buds. Numerous friends and old band members were joining the Nix Dicksons onstage. Shirts were flying off people’s backs, women were screaming in ecstasy and a party was in full rage. And then drunkard Santa showed us his balls.
Story after story, and song after song, the Nix Dicksons threw a sentimental and fun reunion party.AB, Alberta, Dickens Pub, Go for the Eyes, Rick Reid, The Nix Dicksons
