This 2015 film became the second most-watched HBO documentary in channel history on its release on March 29th, tracing the background the controversial church and featuring interviews with former Scientologists. The film provoked a strong condemnation from the church, and Scientology officials proceeded to attempt to discredit and attack the filmmakers – which, at this point, isn’t really a surprise, is it?

88 – Part of the Canadian Indie Film Series – May 11

This film is playing as part of the Globe Cinema’s Canadian Indie Film Series – one film per month on Monday nights. Directed by April Mullen, who hails from Niagara Falls, 88 is an action thriller following a young woman with no memory who awakens in a diner and must go on a violent journey of revenge.

Go behind the scenes of the Christian Dior fashion house in this 2014 documentary by Frédéric Tcheng. The film features appearances from Marion Cotillard, Sharon Stone and Jennifer Lawrence.

Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me – May 22

This documentary follows American country music singer Glen Campbell, who has released more than 70 albums and performed for over 50 years. Campbell, who announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011, went on a “goodbye tour” and held his final show on November 30, 2012. The documentary follows Campbell through his diagnosis and on his farewell tour.

Night Terrors Presents: The People Under the Stairs – May 29

Presented by the Night Terrors Film Society, The People Under the Stairs comes from writer/director Wes Craven. Released in 1991, the film follows an attempted burglary gone wrong. The show will start at midnight.
