LET’S GO DANCING – June 5 @ The Waldorf

It’s a true sign that summer is here when a night such as this one comes back around; Let’s Go Dancing throws local Vancouver favourites in with a visit from Nelson. Billed as ‘An evening dedicated to the hazy late night summer adventures of past, where friends gather on the dance floor with music that resonates and connects,’ you can expect solid grooves tucked away in the Waldorf’s intimate hideaway room. Ryan Wells, Sam Demoe, Matéo and Bokeh are the local musical contributors, with Sweet Pickle coming in from Nelson.

SHIFTED – June 6 @ TBA

clubland-shiftedAn opportunity to catch an artist and instigator in the true forefront of modern techno; Shifted has his roots in drum ’n’ bass music, but is currently most well known as the co-founder of the critically acclaimed Avian label, which is dedicated to delivering a stripped back and decidedly textured approach to techno music. As well as overseeing a string of releases through Avian since 2011, Shifted also has continued to deliver quality releases in his own productions, including LPs on Mote-Evolver and Bed of Nails. He will be accompanied in Vancouver by Austin Philips, and the show will also include live sets by Derivatives and Nap. The venue is currently TBA, but those interested can find out by emailing

BOUND BY SOUND III – June 19 @ Open Studios

clubland-tyrel-williamsComing into their third event, Bound By Sound has been consistently committed to providing a platform for the deeper end of house and techno music. This event is headlined by a live set from Oakland’s Worker/Parasite; an artist with releases on Opal Tapes, Jacktone and Classicworks known for blending leftfield acid house and techno with the more experimental side of electronic music. He will be joined by Tyrel Williams, a mainstay of the underground Chicago dance music scene who has recently relocated to San Francisco. Having been a resident at Chicago’s Smart Bar for the all-vinyl Acid Test party for years, it’s safe to say that Tyrel knows his way around a dancefloor and that this will be a night not to be missed. Local support comes from ESB, Bastet and Lola Vutru.
