CALGARY — What are the consequences of love?
Five folk musicians from Victoria, B.C. came up with nine interpretive responses to that question in their fourth studio effort, weaved into one narrative package.
It took the help, support and talents from family and friends for the Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra’s newest labour of LOVE. to be made.
“The creation of LOVE. was a family affair, which is a feeling our group has always embraced,” says band member Kurt Loewen in a statement. “Our dear friends not only provided the space for the making of the record, designed the set for the front cover and had a hand in the naming of the album but Emily, my wife, produced it and was the graphic designer.”
Their first since 2012’s Follow My Lead, Lead Me to Follow, LOVE., which releases August 21, looks at it “as both sugar and lemons,” according to the statement, “suggesting that to have one without the other would make the recipe incomplete.”
The quintet will soon be sharing the love with their fans as they embark on a late-summer and fall tour throughout Alberta and B.C.
