Rejoice! One of the most important indie rock records ever made will see the light of day again! Up Records (via Sub Pop) has done the world a service and re-released Built To Spill’s masterpiece, There Is Nothing Wrong With Love on CD, vinyl and cassette. This record inspired the sound of bands like Modest Mouse, Blink 182, and The Strokes. The originality of the arrangements and overall sound has made There’s Nothing Wrong With Love the guidebook of how to make great indie rock music.

Completely devoid of studio gloss, every instrument sounds true to its live performance and keeps the listener interested with exciting parts instead of layered tones. From the first riff of “In the Morning” you could be fooled into thinking you’re listening to your friends mediocre high school band in their basement. But by the last chorus your brain chews on lines like “As I trip on the ocean that leads through your eyes” and you realize you’re in for something special.

There is an obvious pop sensibility in the song writing, but paired with the wispy anxiety ridden vocals and frantically picked clean guitars, a unique sound overcomes any “pop music” labeling.

This is hands down one most important records to own, if you do not own this record, do yourself a favour and add it to your collection!
