VANCOUVER — Coast to coast, Vancouver to New York, Hybridity Music brings together a number of different art forms and musical elements under one banner. With a focus on interesting music that is genre agnostic for the most part, the entire Hybridity roster of artists is like one multi-disciplinary family.
“You have people focused solely on electronic music, others classically trained, jazz trained, its like one crazy family reunion when everyone gets together, which is what makes these three days at Seasons Festival for us so fun,” says label founder Malcolm Levy.
Home to acts such as Humans, Fantastic Modern, Sabota and many more rising talents, Hybridity will be celebrating their four-year anniversary this year and continue to have their finger on the pulse of electronic music as a whole. Over the course of Seasons they will demonstrate just how far their wings stretch with three full tilt showcases at Celebrities Underground / 1024 Davie.
“We are looking at around 20 artists that represent not only where the label has been but where it’s going, intertwined with a lot of incredible artwork,” Levy says. “Its gonna be a lot of fun and I think people can expect to see and hear something new every day.”
Radio Zero DJs, Speakerface (watch below) and Resorts will be kicking things off on Thursday, March 24 with a coinciding art show featuring artwork and Stereo 3D works from Colin Moore, Ben Knight, Erin Sidall Peter Ricq and more.
The Stereo 3D installations are all works that are created in Stereoscopic 3D, or relatively close to that so make sure you get your 3D glasses for the full experience.
Friday night delivers performances by Humans (DJ set), Max Ulis, Lorne B and Esette. Topping things off with some all-star talent, Saturday comes to a head with Nautiluss, Sergio Levels, Wolfey, Samuel Scott, Ryan Wells and MDL x Loose Change.
All three nights will be enhanced by visual interactive works from Tangible Interaction (the people behind the 1,200 ball drop during Arcade Fire’s Coachella set!) and HFour so prepare to have all your senses mangled when you step in to the newly renovated digs of Celebrities’ underground party metropolis.
“You will feel like you are at part art exhibition, part warehouse,” Levy says. “We take the experiential part of the events very seriously and there is constant curation from the themes of the night. Starting with the art opening on Thursday through to our Anniversary show on Saturday. It’s really best to come and experience it for yourself.”
