CALGARY — Edmonton’s Jesse and the Dandelions are preparing to release their third album True Blue on September 9th. We’ll be sharing a story on that in September, but in the meantime BeatRoute.ca is happy to premiere a delightfully odd infomercial-esque video created to promote the art/space-pop group.
“Almost all of the scenes in the infomercial are improvised with a few guiding anchor points. I thought it would be really fun to do something to promote the album that was in essence non-musical,” says frontman Jesse Northey.
The clip was created with director Dylan Howard, actors Paul Blinov and Amy Shostak (who together performer as the improv/comedy duo Gossamer Obsessions).
On how he went in an unusual direction for the clip, Northey says, “I really enjoy poking fun at myself while being creative, in what is ultimately a fancy way to announce an album pre-sale. I love opportunities to be more than ‘musician’ and transcend into ‘artist’ territory!”
