VANCOUVER — It’s a Canadian thing; we don’t know a good thing when it’s at home. It takes a Canadian achieving success in America for us to take notice. Why not discover a good thing while it’s here in your own back yard? Kenny Robinson and Darren Frost are two of Canada’s most fearless comics, taking on subjects and making audiences all over the country find the humour in the darkest content. Together they are bringing their Rank and Vile XXX Comedy Show to Vancouver for one special show at The Emerald on November 6. This show is meant to push your buttons and unapologetically expand your horizons in ways that may change you forever.
Kenny Robinson is a 35+ year veteran Yuk Yuk’s headliner and 2014 Canadian Comedy Award recipient of the prestigious Phil Hartman Trophy, which is awarded for outstanding lifetime contribution to Canadian comedy. The founder of one of the most sought after comedy spots in the country, “The Nubian Disciples All Black Comedy Revue,” which recently entered its 21st year this year at Yuk Yuks’ flagship club in downtown Toronto, Robinson is one of the few stand ups in Canada that can wear the title of Canadian Comedy Legend. He has been touring with Darren Frost for the past few years. Frost is another popular Just for Laughs Festival performer and Yuk Yuk’s headliner with a cult following. Famous for his completely and totally unfiltered, profane and opinionated brand of ”in your face” social commentary, you might recognize him as the Listerine Bottle in a series of ads a few years back.
Robinson and Frost are known for taking chances, they even took a chance on me by taking me out on my first national comedy tour when I was first starting out. I’ve personally watched audiences doubled over in laughter when both of these men take the stage and this show is definitely not one you want to miss. One thing I’ve found since moving to Vancouver two years ago is that this city loves the dark side and these two will fit right in.
Kenny and Darren are pleased to curate a few “Rank and Vile” Vancouver acts in this leg of their tour, led by host and local favourite Patrick Maliha, and featuring a guest appearance by Suzy Rawsome and others TBA.
Rank And Vile starts at 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 at the Emerald Supper Club. Tickets are just $15-22 and are available at www.rankandvile.eventbrite.ca or by calling 778-223-3740.BC, British Columbia, Emerald Supper Club, Rank and Vile, stand-up comedy
