In commemoration of Josh Hunter and Zachariah Rathwell, late band members of Zachariah & the Prophets, the Prophets of Music Society celebrate a night of music with Chris Stills, Jocelyn Alice, Mocking Shadows, Rend, The Ashley Hundred, Brett McCrady and more. For $45.95 (or $25 for students and $149.95 for VIPs), your gift will go towards funding for the society’s Emerging Artist program, as well as other “music for good” initiatives in the community.
BENEFIT SHOW FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
Join recently licensed venue, the Good Life Community Bike Shop, in supporting Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA). $10 gets you performances by Dec. AB print edition cover stars Melted Mirror, Vacuum Rebuilders, DRI HIEV and Tiny Baby. Funds go towards the support and counseling of survivors of sexual assault, as well as educational and crisis intervention programs.

Over 300 singers are coming together in support of the Calgary Food Bank. Songwriting legend Elvis Costello will be performing work from throughout his catalogue as well as telling their stories of origin (read more on Costello on BeatRoute.ca later next week). Funds support the Owen Hart Foundation’s signature programs and special projects, ranging scholarships to assistance for impoverished homebuyers.

Comedian Adora Nwofor hosts a night of family, friends and tunes from 15 different acts across the musical spectrum. The Torchettes, Kenna Burima, Hello Moth, Sykamore (see our Roots section story on Project Wild) and more are lending their talent to raise money for the Calgary Sexual Health Centre’s Wiseguyz program: an educational endeavour to teach jr. high school-aged boys about consent and healthy relationships. $15 advance, $20 at the door.
HOLIDAY CLOTHING DRIVE + COMMONWEALTH OWNERS BALL
Commonwealth is holding two separate events in support of the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre (DI) this month. The first takes place on the 22nd with a stacked lineup including Windigo (again!), Night Committee, We Knew and more, and is soliciting warm clothing or a $12 donation for entry.
