Miesha & The Spanks – “Stranger” Video Premiere

CALGARY – Calgary-based garage duo Miesha and the Spanks have returned, this time armed with visual accompaniment to last fall’s Stranger 7“. Originally served up as a prelude to the band’s upcoming full length, the songs of Stranger have spawned a full coast-to-coast Canadian tour, and before the band heads UK-bound to the continue recording with The Buzzcock’s Danny Farrant, Beatroute is rolling out a first look at a video for the booming title track.

Working alongside Welcome to the West’s Brendan Kane, cinematographer Mike Tan and artistic director Rebecca Reid, the Spanks’ latest video revolves around the best parts of summer: nighttime bike rides, weirdo parties and interesting new friends.

“The song itself is about people getting ‘Stranger’ when they fall in love… changing because of how they feel or how they’re adapting to their new partnership and how sometimes it’s easier to just stay solo rather than watch yourself get weird,” explains Miesha Louie about how the concept for the video began rolling. With custom built sets courtesy of Kane and Reid and styling by Canadace Pearson and Bre Sinclair, the video shines as a vehicle for Louie’s scrappy garage roots and drummer Sean Hamilton’s thunderous beats.
