BeatRoute is proud to premiere the latest work by Tigerwing, the artistic name of Sarah Kelly. Tigerwing was brewed in part during Kelly’s stint at ACAD here in Calgary, while this latest video is her thesis work for her MFA in Film and Media at the University of Windsor. Watch it now, and check out a statement from Kelly below.
“Tigerwing’s newest 3D rendered work takes on the form of an extended music video and short film. I’ve been working on it since September of 2016 – April 2017 and completed it independently as my thesis work for the MFA Film and Media program here in Windsor.
Picking up where she left off with the video for single, “Need Me Bad,” “Locustland” is entirely directed, filmed, and produced by Tigerwing.
The artist also appears on-screen as five different characters journeying throughout a digital utopia which contains a church, club, tomb, flying gazebo, etc…
The visuals were constructed in Autodesk Maya and each character was filmed against a green screen (construction papered wall) so that they could be composited into this virtual world.
The video showcases remixed and stripped down unreleased songs as well as past numbers like “Abraca-Bye”. In true Tigerwing style, the tracks of “Locustland” are dark and synth-heavy, implementing vocals as layers of texture and rhythm.”AB, Alberta, Featured, Tigerwing
