Former America’s Next Drag Superstar Bianca Del Rio Makes No Deals With The Devil

Hot off the tail of “Hurricane Bianca”, Bianca Del Rio is sinking her nails into another comedy tour; this time, penning the tour after her infamous quote from Rupaul’s Drag Race

“Not today, Satan.”

Bianca Del Rio, known for her sharp witty humour, is storming Vancouver on May 19, almost four years after winning the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. We caught her on the phone from LA and she shared, “I have been busy, as you know with these reality tv shows, you get a 15 mins of something then you gotta figure out your life. So it’s kinda been a whirlwind for the past three-and-a-half years since we filmed. It’s been quite insane but by choice; I am one of those people that was lucky enough to have all this happen while I was older. I realized this was my golden ticket, so run with it because I don’t how long I am going to do drag.”

Her movie Hurricane Bianca was a huge success and there are talks of a sequel. Making a movie in drag is unique, says Del Rio: “It’s challenging. We shot in Texas, which was hot as fuck, and it was July which was melting and one of the reasons I am wearing bangs is because I was sweating like a bitch. I made an executive choice to wear bangs. I had 18 days of filming, and that was all the time I had so it was very in and out of drag a lot. I think the second shoot will make more sense for me. It was a whirlwind doing it fast the way we did, it was so exciting. I think if I had had more time I would have made different choices and it would have been very different. But we did it fast and that kept my excitement up.”

Bianca, while being known as an insult comic, did admit that the title is not exactly accurate. When it comes to comedy, Bianca always goes for self-deprecation before aiming her sharpened wit at others.

Bianca will be performing at the Vogue (Vancouver) on May 19.
