EDMONTON – Edmonton’s Post Script are back with their first bite of new music since 2015’s homegrown and earnest If Not For You. The songwriting duo of Paul Cournoyer and Steph Blais leverages nostalgia and melancholia with colourful portraits of home and the narratives that reside there. With songs in French and English, Post Script paint a prairie landscape with a generous brush, a potent balance of an insider and outsider’s perspective.
BeatRoute is pleased to premiere their new single “Don’t Let Go,” a vibrant and propulsive song about pulling optimism out of inevitability. It’s a bigger and more assured Post Script than we’ve seen before, with wet and brightly laid out keyboards, and a slinky guitar solo at its climax. Cournoyer breathily heaves out a heftier and more contemporary vocal than
we’ve seen, trading off with Blais’ homespun syrupy brilliance.
They’ll be releasing another single from this session in the new year, followed by a 4 song EP in the spring.
Post Script performs October 8 at Up + Downtown Festival (Edmonton), October 13 at The Artesian (Regina), October 14 at The West End Cultural Centre (Winnipeg) and their release show is November 5 at The Needle Vinyl Tavern (Edmonton).Post Script, The Artesian, The Needle Vinyl Tavern, The West End Cultural Centre, Up + Downtown Festival
