Ten years is a long time in band-years, but on the ‘10 Years of Constellations’ tour pit-stop in Vancouver, August Burns Red proved that metalcore is just as fun as it’s ever been.
The Pennsylvania-based five-piece resurrected their third album, Constellations, playing the ripper from riff-heavy front to spine-tingling back. The show, a dream come true for any mid-2000s era headbanger, had vocalist, Jake Luhrs, hitting every inch of the album’s diverse vocal range, all the while illuminated by more smoke, strobes and lasers than ever before.
With Constellations played out to completion, the band capped the night off with a groovy drum solo and a handful of fan favourites that enunciated how far the guys have come in the past decade. It was a night acid-washed in sonic nostalgia, and one fans won’t be forgetting any time soon.August Burns Red, Silverstein, Vogue Theatre
