Indie-rock multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird made not one, but two major announcements today.
Bird will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Chris Rock, Jason Schwartzman and Ben Whishaw in the upcoming fourth season of FX’s Emmy-winning series Fargo, playing the delightfully-named undertaker Thurman Smutney. The character was written specifically with Bird in mind.
“I’m flattered and excited to be asked to be in the cast of Fargo. I’m a fan of the show and its smart writing, inspired casting and great acting,” Bird says.
Bird has also debuted an EP, We Are Olympians, featuring two new versions of his song “Olympians” off his politically-charged new album, My Finest Work Yet.
“Olympians” has been updated with an acoustic version, as well as a collaboration with Madison Cunningham that Bird has dubbed “The Gotholympians.”
