K-pop megaband BTS are already renowned globally for their music and fashion, and now they’re adding another element to their ever-growing creative empire. The superstar South Korean boy band just launched “CONNECT, BTS,” a global public art project that will involve 22 artists and five renowned galleries across some major global cities: London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seoul and New York.
“Today’s world is one of hyperconnectivity, yes — but is that always how it feels?” questions the official website. “BTS the band offers an homage to diversity and originality, a song of special attention to the periphery and the overlooked … Connect, BTS reaches for a collective experience that might be only the beginning of new communication between art, music and people.”
The first of the five installations opened this week at London’s Serpentine. Visitors are welcome to visit the gallery and view the work for free, and its also available to be viewed online. The Serpentine has already gotten a taste of BTS’ incredibly dedicated following, as fans congregated outside the gallery this week.
Here are the other cities which “CONNECT, BTS” will be touching and when, and if you can’t make it to any of the exhibitions IRL then be sure to follow along on the website.
